Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how OnDevicePDF collects, uses, protects, and discloses information when you use our website and services.
Local-first privacy promise
- Most PDF tools are processed entirely in your browser.
- Advanced PDF Editor actions can use secure temporary backend processing.
- Temporary editor jobs are time-limited, encrypted in transit, and auto-deleted.
- No accounts, sign-ins, or hidden backups.
- Document contents are not used for ads or profiling.
1. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to information processed through OnDevicePDF websites, tools, and related support channels.
2. Information we process
- Technical data such as browser type, device class, pages visited, and coarse diagnostics.
- Operational logs needed for security, reliability, and abuse prevention.
- Temporary file-processing data only when advanced editor features require backend execution.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use uploaded document content for advertising profiles.
3. How processing works
Most PDF operations execute locally using your browser compute and memory.
Advanced editor workflows, such as OCR and complex text changes, may use secure temporary backend processing. Those jobs are retained only as long as needed to complete editing and are automatically deleted.
4. Purposes of processing
- Provide, operate, and improve service functionality.
- Maintain security, detect abuse, and troubleshoot failures.
- Measure high-level product usage and performance.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our legal terms.
5. Cookies and analytics
We may use essential cookies and limited analytics technologies to keep the service running, understand aggregate usage, and improve reliability.
- No document contents are tracked in analytics.
- Analytics are used in aggregate and can be blocked by browser or extension controls.
- Blocking non-essential analytics may reduce measurement quality but not core tool access.
6. Data retention
For local-only tools, files do not reach our servers. For advanced editor workflows using temporary backend processing, data is retained for short operational windows and then deleted automatically.
7. Security safeguards
We implement administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
No method of transmission or storage is guaranteed to be perfectly secure, but we continuously improve controls.
8. International data handling
If processing involves infrastructure located in multiple regions, we apply appropriate safeguards and controls to protect information in transit and at rest.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, objection, or portability for personal information we control.
To submit a request, contact us at team@ondevicepdf.com. We may need to verify your request before processing.
10. Children's privacy
OnDevicePDF is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us to request deletion.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date. Continued use of the service after updates means you accept the revised policy.
12. Offline and installable usage
After your first visit, core assets are cached so you can continue working offline. Installing OnDevicePDF keeps tools available even when connectivity is unreliable.
13. Why backend processing exists for PDF Editor
Some advanced editing capabilities are not reliably possible with pure on-device browser processing today. Features like high-accuracy OCR, true text replacement, and permanent redaction export can require a dedicated advanced engine.
We adopted this path based on broad user acceptance and demand for these advanced capabilities, while keeping local-first processing as the default across the product.
Our guarantee: same trust, same confidence, same security standards. Temporary backend processing is clearly disclosed, encrypted, time-limited, and removable by the user.
14. Contact
If you have privacy-related questions, contact us at team@ondevicepdf.com. We review and respond as promptly as practical.
