A4 and Letter are not the same shape

A4 is a little narrower and taller than US Letter, so one never maps cleanly onto the other. That is why this tool asks what to do with the difference. Fit inside keeps every bit of the page and leaves a thin margin on two sides. Fill the page removes the margin but lets a sliver of content run off the edge. Stretch fills exactly, at the cost of stretching the page slightly out of shape.

Your text stays real text, not a picture, so it can still be selected, searched and read aloud. Links and form fields are kept and moved with the page, and rotated pages keep their orientation.

Resize, not compress

This changes the page dimensions, not the file size. To make the file smaller, use Compress PDF. To change which way a page faces, use Rotate PDF Pages.
